On way to brother’s place
Oh what do we do to ourselves?
I know that my first train leaves at 11:40am from a station I’ve never been to before
My dad, ever helpful, booked me a taxi for the 0.7mile walk. To leave the house at 10:50 …….
First train
Got to the station, no one around. No signs to start with. Had to do a bit of “well it looks like this is the way…” and then Yay signs, I see signs!!! Whoop whoop
But then I have a nearly 50 minute wait before the train turns up π€ͺ
End up, for the one stop I’m on that train, sitting opposite a really cute little lad with dinosaurs and a propensity for sticking his tongue out and blowing raspberries at me. I laughed most of the way and played dinosaurs with him. Fun !
Second train
Next station, signs abound for which way to the platforms, but you have to follow several of them before you find out if you’re going the right way or not, what’s up with that π€£
Now sat opposite 2 lads, who are probably uni age. Very polite. Moved really quickly when I pointed out one of them had a bag on my seat. I was surprised that he moved to the other side at first. Then realised why would he want to sit next to a strange woman when he could be sat by his friend. Makes sense.
So many funny things happening so far during todays travels, though I have been smiling through most of it, so it’s all good π
Oh just remembered, whilst waiting for the first train, leant against the seating thing, when I then stood up I had a ton on tiny little black lines crawling over me. I blew off all the ones I could see, but admit I feel a little like I could still have a ton on me under my clothes Blurgh π«
Ok I’m sat in the quiet carriage and wondering if people understand what that actually means …
There’s a guy who appears to be some type of actor who has not shut up about how much he feels the play director(?) has no idea what he’s doing and “just has no organisational skills, whatsoever!!!” And how he himself could do a better job of just about everything … yes I’m sure π€
And now a family has just boarded that are talking across seats and aisles and tables to each other, in between getting up and down constantly to talk to the family unlucky enough not to be within the group of tables next to me π€¦πΌ♀️
Have a feeling it’s so I’ll move, but my backside is not leaving my seat till we get to my station π€£π€£π€£
Following the quiet carriage debacle, it all went smoothly, if you don’t discount me having to look up every change over, to work out where I needed to go once I got to the final stop, on each of the four trains I took to get to Chelmsford from Gainsborough. Only one of the stations had the info I needed ready to hand. Puzzles are good for the brain so yay π€ͺ
It turned out that I didn’t need to panic about missing the one connecting train where there was a four minute gap between one train in the next, all I had to do was get off Train A, take four steps and be at the platform for train B, LOL
Got to Chelmsford with no problems or rerouting necessary the rest of the journey was just pure fun fun fun
Driving with my sister
I had to wait for an hour for my sister to arrive at the pickup point, but this allowed me to get food and something to drink, so I was happy. πππ
Once in the car the drive was a blast from the beeping telling us that we really should’ve stopped for fuel at the first petrol station seen, so we wouldn’t have to drive in heightened stress till we reached South Mimms petrol station on the M25. To the really bad idea to get large drinks for the rest of the journey, where we couldn’t find restrooms for relief.
Me being the helpful sister that I am decided that I needed to take my sisters mind off of her predicament by playing I Spy. Unfortunately the game descended into things like “I spy with my little eye something beginning with…” “BOBS” or “ICFSA” due to the rain or my favourite “BITBT” these translated into “bits of blue sky”, “I can’t F see anything” and “breeze in the big trees”.
We basically laughed the whole way and my sister’s condition was alleviated in no way whatsoever. Spent a great night with my brother and his family, where I then travelled on to see a friend.
